Subject: Need fuel expansion tank valve

Anyone got one lying around? I had to replace my crushed gas tank and of course installed the reseal kit and new fuel lines. Naturally, I broke the connector off one of the expansion tank valves. I may just stuff in a rubber stopper with a connector to the charcoal canister if I can't find one. It's just there to keep gas from being sucked into the engine if you end up upside down, and if that happens I'd be dead anyway. Anyone figured out a way to change the seals in the expansion tanks without breaking this valve? I left the other side as is since it wasn't leaking.

This was one of the worst jobs I've done on any car in my 40 years of the old car hobby. My tank was crushed from high centering by one of the PO's and leaked from the seam welds on both sides. Wrestling with this tank by myself was brutal, and the brackets were bent so I spent quite a bit of time bending them into the right shape so I could install them under the new tank. Lots of trips off the ground to the shop vise and back. I think I just invented a new exercise program--Vanagon repair yoga. Should have gotten a pair out of the junkyard. Oh well, at least the tank was reasonably priced and available!
