Wow, good stuff, and it does end up on it's feet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO_AfCFQR2M Here is an old one from Vanagon.com in case you've missed it where a Volvo loses the contest: http://www.vanagon.com/info/safety/volvo-crash/index.htm

Note that the fully inflated spare tire is part of the front crumple zone. Don't leave home without it and check the pressure once in a while!

I feel better about having my kids and grandkids using it now. They are so spoiled by their ABS, ESC, 72 air bags or some such thing they look askance at my old Westy, even though they grew up with one just like it. Unfortunately for them they are used to borrowing my previous EVC.

Stuart '85 Westy (exceeds federal crash standards for 1985)

Not if you've got your belts on. Take a look on YouTube for the factory T3 tests including the Westy rolling over seven times - you can see it flex above the beltline every turn, but it still ends up looking pretty similar to how it started. I think it may even have ended up on its feet, can't remember.

Yours, David
