The BD top seals don't use any adhesive, they are both "self grabbing" for lack of a better term. Usually the biggest problem is cleaning up whatever goop was used to glue the factory seal when it started to fail. You can put a dollop of black silicone in the gap where the bottom seal and flat seal meet though to pretty it up. The BD seal is great, I put one on my '84 and have one now I'll install after I paint my top.

As far as the door seal, I've always used professional grade 3M Weather Strip Adhesive, available from auto body supply stores like Wesco. You want it to last, so might as well use the best. Also pick up a can of 3M adhesive remover while you are there. It's great stuff, and I use it all the time for cleaning off old glue residue from lots of things.

Hi everyone,

My long weekend puttering plans are to install my poptop seal from Bus Depot, and also a new door seal. Just wondering if anyone has any tips?

I understand i don't need to glue the pop top seal to the top, although I need to glue the flat seal to the gasket with some black silicon. Sound about right?

Any suggestions for a good adhesive for the door seal? It's for the drivers door.

Guess I should make sure everything is nice and clean before I start.

Thanks in advance! Jeff 85 Westfalia GL
