Subject: Digifant ECU: Corrosion? And.... Rosin or Heat Damage? PICS
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

As a preemptive maintenance "strike", opened up my ECU to check condition of ECU PCB and components. This is for a in 1988 stock 2.1 WBX equipped Westfalia.

On LH end of the PCB, there appears to be some kind of corrosion. Almost looks like rust. That edge of the PCB is a different colour than other edges:

Clean up with Isopropyl?

And, I *think* this is simply rosin left over from factory soldering job, but could they be signs of heat damage?

(red arrows point to worst I can see):

I won't separate the boards from each other. There are white globs covering what may be fasteners and white ribbon connectors between them. Don't want to dig that deep right now.

Neil.
