I pulled the luggage rack off my '85 and found six old wasp nests underneath. Those drain holes are wasp magnets! This van lived in eastern Oregon before e I got it where it's warm, and wasps are prevalent. It's easy to remove the luggage rack and clean out all the crap that gets underneath, and I think this should be done every few years. Of course you'll need to replace the bolts with stainless steel bolts while you are at it!

Stuart

'85 Westy getting it's top painted and a new seal and tent, plus SS bolts everywhere.
