lol, that means you have 'other problems' then. I might get an air-cooled vanagon in .. a local vanagon mechanic couldn't figure it out, nor could a local mobile air-cooled VW tech .. Symptom is - runs weakly, left side exhaust pipes don't get very hot. Won't go up a hill. The air-cooled tech is stumped and giving up. He didn't even consider clogged cat or muffler. I was astonished that the mobile air-cooled VW guy doesn't' even have or use an IR temp gun. One can eventually fix a vehicle without one ..but for their low cost and extreme usefulness, it's silly not to have one. I measure waterboxer exhaust pipe temps about 6 inches from the exhaust port on the head .. you find one much lower than the others , for example...........that means something, and it takes a second or two to get that information, non-invasively even. yeah, no coolant to worry about with an air-cooled.........but ..you know. scott
