No worries. I work at a dealership and? have all the latest equipment to evacuate and correctly recover the freon. I just want to only have to do this once and probably will therefore just replace the compressor. FWIW R134a is being phased out. The replacement equipment for R-1234yf was just dropped shipped to us (I work at a Cadillac dealership-its for the new XTS). I don't have any info on mandatory phase out dates for R134a yet or info on compatibility but I'm sure there's info on the web somewhere. Thanks David Clarkson

Have it recovered. Maybe you can rotate the compressor 90 degrees if you can refit the hoses. If you broke it once you know any type of weld repair will be even weaker. I don't have the piece that broke off (too much torque on adjusting-arrgh!). I was wondering if discharging the system and removing the compressor to have another ear aluminum welded on was a viable alternative to another compressor. Anyone have any experience with aluminum welding? Would this be a weak spot that would likely break when adjusting? Thanks list. David Clarkson 1990 Westfalia
