Subject: Fuel Pressure Test. Gauge Needle Wiggles at Idle?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

Trying to recall if this happened with the vacuum hose DIS-connected. I can run the ** test again, but hate wasting "always replace" washers. Regardless.....

On second set of tests, at idle, the fuel pressure tester needle wiggled. It didn't do this on first test. The engine also ran rough, throttle held at 2K RPM or so.

The engine has a consistent rough idle or stall at idle, engine cold. Conditions:

Engine cold, idle 20 seconds, back out driveway, drive level road for 5 seconds, coast downhill 20 seconds. Take foot off gas, dump the clutch it idles low and rough or stalls. After that, no stalls.

Is the wiggling needle related to the stall? What is the gauge telling me? (if anything)

Neil.

** Fuel pressure test, engine cold:

Primed fuel system 3 times: 36 PSI at gauge.

Pressure test at idle:

FPR vacuum hose CONnected: 32 PSI (Bentley says: 29) FPR vacuum hose DISconnected: 38 PSI (Bentley says: 36)

System held pressure at 36 PSI for over 10 minutes. Like at least 20 minutes.
