It's a lot better than any of the Michelin (Agilis, ?MXT? etc.) that I used to use, which were dreadful. I've never driven with the Haakas or any serious snow tire so I don't have a good standard to compare with, but I get a good deal better results now without the 300# of sand in the back than I used to with. Drove around mid-coastal Maine snowy and slushy back roads (paved and not) for a week a year ago without much trouble. Never got stuck. Made it up a long steep driveway during fresh snow with a running start amounting to the width of the country road it was stuck on to. Now I *have* been driving in snow since I was a pup (before they started clear-plowing the whole universe, IIRC), and that does make some difference. But the Vanagon with Michelins on was like a roller skate, and with the Hangooks it's not. I'm using the 185/14 size which gives some advantage (but I was most of the time with the Michelins too, so it's a fair comparison).

Yrs, d
