Hmm. I don't know enough about the PS system to poke any holes in the "cavitation" theory; and those arguments sound reasonable to me. Would love to see a hydraulic schematic or have some experience with ANY PS system. Sigh.

Here is another postulate: the restrictor serves to limit the maximum speed that the PS pump can move the wheels. (IE. It prevents the wheel direction from changing direction too fast). Could be for stability and safety? Could be to reduce wear and tear?
