Mine had a LOT of sand. The previous owner was a surf fisherman, which should have tipped me off that there was more rust than met the eye. ________________________________ From: Stuart MacMillan <stuartmacm@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2012 10:03 PM Subject: Under the rear folding seat Ah yes, deep into the cleaning phase on my "new" '85 Westy.  Pulled out the rear seat today and found 27 years of accumulated crud, mostly on the sides. Pens, pencils, crayons, playing cards, game cards (probably a McDonald's winner too) puzzle pieces, food, spoons, nickels dimes and quarters, all in a sort of goo from lots of spilled pop over the years.  No dead mice though. It's not difficult to get the seat out, and those of you who are fastidious may want to. I stuffed scrap pieces of foam down the sides to keep this stuff from dropping in the gap on my '84, and I'll do it again on this one. Stuart
