This description sounds more like something I got.
Someone suggested if I may have the filter blocked. I don't know how much
merit that may have.

Here is one possibility:
The front pump is driven by the small diameter rod that goes from the
torque converter thru the center of the input/output shafts. If the
splines inside the torque converter get stripped, that rod doesn't
turn and without the pump, nothing happens. BTDT
I don't know what would cause this to happen while driving tho.
For me it was probably due to an error on my part, after an amateur
rebuilding job. Had to have the torque converter rebuilt.
Loss of fluid pressure due to a blown internal seal also seems to be a
possibility.
