Your post helped me rethink my current portable ice AC. I used the "instructables" website for building one for myself. Can't say I've had 100% success with it yet, but it has saved me a few times. I use it for work. I need to redo my fan, it doesn't pull air through the unit as much as I'd like, so I'm going to change it to push air through. You need a cooler, heater core, bilge pump, fan, tubing and a free supply of ice. If there is a bright side, it is I am getting used to 95+ degrees and high humidity.
