Subject:   Progress on Alaska trip

We have driven the van at a moderate speed but for many hours a day in our attempt to have plenty of time in Alaska. While over the last year lots of preventive maintenance was performed on the van including a new water pump and associated gaskets, around Saskatoon, Saskatchewan I noticed a slight seepage at the gasket between the pump and the metal transfer tube. Stopped at BASCO VW Service in Edmonton (Larry Chase's shop list to the rescue) and Vincent went way out of his way to make time to change the gasket. In his opinion that particular gasket shipped with water pumps is inferior and he used what he feels is a much better gasket. If you are in the Edmonton area, I highly recommend Vincent.

We are in Dawson Creek and will now take our time driving to Whitehorse and on to Alaska. Very limited Internet service for a good while.

The van is driving great!

Harold
