Dear prospective purchaser ... (and others) Read the description ... I am not interested in a flame war about how this vehicle looks like what ever or is or is not worth this or that ... it is what it is .... and mostly... it is not mine ... i am simply acting as a conduit to the growing number of vanagon owners represented here ...

I do not own this vehicle and have no interest in it other than to promote that it is for sale by the owner, because i think it to be a good salvageable Westfalia. There may be others which are in better condition and rust free and those will command the 10K$+ price tag. This would be an excellent project vehicle for some young or old couple that has a desire to do some body work and enjoy the unique experience of camping in a Westfalia. More than just see the country it is a vehicle from which the country will be happy to see you.

I live in Powell River BC, Canada and this summer, a local guy, originally from Germany, recently put his 1984 Volkswagen Westfalia up for sale. He is a local fresh organic fruit seller who drives to the *Okanagan * in the interior of BC every weekend -- he loads up on fresh in season fruit and comes back to this ferry access only community to resell. He winters in Mexico and for the last two years in this Westie. So i went today and interviewed him about his Westie ( i have the same year and model) :) Interestingly enough there is another half a block away sporting a 2 year old coat of green paint and they want 12,5K oy

This one was originally offered at 6200$ Canadian $ he thought maybe since he had not installed the new pop up tent canvas (still in the box) he should offer it for a little less ... so now at 5500$ Canadian $

It is a 1984 Vanagon Westfalia; gas powered 4 cyl 4 speed, Motor reported to have 40K km -- Vehicle shows 305K km Reported by the owner to have a recently new starter, clutch, fuel pump and water pump. Tires on the front have 10k km and were purchased in Mexico. Rears are about 50% used. Fuel rails, injectors and fuel lines to engine and in engine bay have not been re done. The new owner should look at this as a priority.

Fridge is reported as working and as the pictures show the vehicle is very clean inside. I was in the vehicle and there is absolutely no visible sign of mold or any sort of left behind waste. Just the normal wear and tear of the last thirty years as this vehicle has been used and kept very well by loving owners. Current owner is thought to be third owner, previous owner in excess of 15 years. Although the factory propane bottle is still in place it is not in service and the fully functional propane appliances are reported to work well with fuel supplied by a remote bottle. Current owner reports the remote bottle for propane fuel is especially handy in Mexico -- he does not have to strike camp each and every time he requires a refill -- simply get the bottle to the filling station and return to camp ready to cook -- Dash appeared to be free of cracks or dings. Engine bay appeared clean and free of oil residues or oil smells. Some dust is present in engine bay.

Owner reports that he has made both trips to Mexico with out any major problems and enjoyed every moment of each trip in the Westfalia.

Rust is apparent in some of the usual places. behind wheels and at local utility hook up panel -under where electrical chord is let out. there are some minor surface rust marks apparent on the port side rear panel. The windshield area is free of visible rust of paint blemish (which is unusual for these vehicles as this is one of the rust starting zones (but this vehicle is reported to be West Coast owned and operated so it appears the front window area escaped the rust demon.) Undercarriage appears to look clean and free of visible rust. There were no soundings of metal, or engine trials done on site. This is a 30 year old vehicle with some minor issues which are easily resolved with a little know how and a lot of willingness.

to reach the owner call 1.604.487.9267 and leave a message for Bernie the * Okanagan* Fruit Guy
