The loud clunks sound like upper control arm bushings or ball joints.

Haven't touched the CV joints in ages. I don't see any rips in the boots at first glance.

Yep, I guess I won't get too far without determining which wheel (!) I appreciate getting responses despite my general lack of investigation so far.
