              control arm bushings!

Don't worry, the replacements will not last 86k miles! When it comes to suspension Vanagon owners are lucky. In 1997 I purchased a 1992 motorhome on a Ford chassis (E350 cutaway Class C) with 36,000 miles on. Before 40K it needed front ball joints and rear springs. The rear end started making noise, the gear oil turned to tar. And the fuel pump went in Florida day before Christmas eve. Tow, rental car, and close to a grand to get the pump replaced with the "new improved" version.

Low mileage on older vehicles is not always a good thing.

Thanks Alistair. This is what I'm thinking too.

I guess with even a lower mileage Vanagon it's always kind of a restoration project tackling a given job. Like the shop had noted that the RF upper A arm bushings were worn. Yup. Grabbing RF wheel at 9/3:00 I could see the arm move.

I was surprised to find that wear at 86K miles.

Neil.
