I'm sure leaving the screw alone was a judgement call and maybe not such a bad one in some ways but....

They may have lost my business too not just the sale of a caliper.

Absolutely. Oxy-acetylene. And me w/o that! Thought maybe Butane torch would do it but I knew it wasn't hot enough. The smaller flame was certainly easy to focus on the metal surrounding the screw though.

Replacing the bleeders from time to time. Good tip.

I'll soak the screw into time memorial. Or just be done with it and do the calipers and hoses while I'm doing the UCA bushings.
