Don't you have an adapter plate that your starter is mounted 
to? The close tolerance of some of those plates can make
your starter more difficult to get out. You'll need to pry or
give it a whack with a large rubber or dead blow hammer to
loosen it up. Just be careful as it can drop suddenly.
