Also, moderating the group keeps down a lot of the "dust" that used to accompany almost every post. And, yes, social media are probably providing an outlet for what was the social aspect of the group. But one thing hasn't changed, and it's the important one. If I need to know something about a vanagon, there it is. This and the diesel vanagon list save me the same amount of money, time and trouble as it always did, even though overall traffic on it is down from what it was.
