If you are stopped, immediately roll down the driverside window, take off
your sunglasses and hat, put your hands at the 10 and 2 positions on the
steering wheel and say nothing until queried by the officer. Be pleasant,
when asked for your license and registration, tell the officer where it is
and ask permission to fetch it. No chittychat, no pleasantries (nice gun
you have there honey) strictly business, ask only pertinent questions and
offer only relevant answers. If asked to consent to a search...you know
the drill here. If substantial probable cause is not presented, decline
the search. The officer will have to arrest you to search for illegal
trout or whatever but remember this is a traffic infraction, search is not
justified. If you have a gun in the car and the officer asks that
particular question consider your state's laws for transporting firearms
and carefully explain the location and condition of storage. Some states
have the fact that you have a concealed weapons permit immediately
available to the officer and they will ask. Respond politely, having a
permit and the weapon on board properly secured is not an offence. It also
doesn't constitute (note wording) probable cause in most circumstances.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Pensionerd (eh? its a geezer bag, viagra, hunnerd dollar bills, condoms,
parking meter change. Whats in your bag, bunkie?)
