I have a 90 Westy automatic. I get poor mileage (around 170 miles on a full tank,) but freeway driving I've gone up to around 225 miles on a full tank. I take it in for maintenance, and haven't been warned about any problems. It has consistently passed California smog tests every 2 years, 4 times in a row. (once the DMV "messed up" and made me get it smogged twice during the 2 year period. They (state services) are so messed up over here, I opted to just go along with it rather than fight it! (Long boring story.)

I posted about this a while ago, and the consensus seemed to be that it's a heavy vehicle, and automatics get lower mileage. (I don't have any racks or heavy items, and it's usually just me, or at the most, myself and one passenger. Patti Los Angeles
