Another weapon against odors is Saran Wrap. Stuff diffuses through it about 1,000 times slower than through equal thicknesses of other plastics (and it will diffuse through even 1/8" poly gasoline cans, given time. CU periodically gets nervous about that, although I perhaps wrongly think their concern is excessive).

This is a bit of topic drift, but I learned the hard way not to store a scented candle in the camping box with the Coleman plastic silverware over the winter. Everything I ate the next year tasted of candle, very annoying.
