Craig,

We live in N.S. 20 mins from Halifax & Peggy'Cove. We have the space to park with water & electricity.

We travel a lot but you would be welcome if we are home. Let us know your plans.

We have travelled through most of Newfoundland. Don't let the cost of the ferry put you off visiting the most beautiful province in Canada. It is money well spent. We always go by one ferry and return by the other if crossing the province. The cost of fuel & the distance does not warrant a return trip across the TCH.

It is a expensive business to travel to and from NL, one of the reasons I now have my permanent residence in Ontario in retirement. If you were touring the entire island in the old days, the price differential PaB to Argentia was about equal to the fuel cost to get back to PaB from St. John's. Now it looks a little bit more than that at least for a fairly efficient modest sized vehicle. And yes fuel is more expensive here too, 1.28/litre $4.80/gal. > > It is cheaper to fly, if you have access to wheels on the far sided, and there is no other way to get here on the ground :( > > Regards, > > Ted > > > Theodore Hoekman > thoekman@gmail.com > 19 York St. > Newbury, ON N0L 1Z0 > (519)719-0342 > Blog:http://Tedspassivesolarhouse.wordpress.com > > On 2012-08-11, at 1:35 AM, craig cowan wrote: > >> Wow, do ferries to the island really cost $350 each way!? >> I may be willing to extend my trip and spend more time, but that's a >> deal breaker right there. $700 just to get somewhere could be two >> weeks of travel somewhere else. >> >> Thoughts? >> >> -Craig >> >> On 8/10/12, turbowesty <turbowesty@gmail.com> wrote: >>> Just spent a little time exploring in the NE US and parts of Quebec, >>> including a visit with Dake.
