The automatics can't be towed without some type of lube pump or axle disconnect. Otherwise the Vanagon tows very well 4 wheels down. The power steering acts as a great damper to prevent unwanted oscillations after making a turn. The Roadmaster brackets and Falcon2 tow bar work great.

Dennis

I've been going thru the archives looking for people towing a Vanagon, the only one I can find is Dennis (I kind of cheated as I knew Dennis had written about it before). I saw a Vanagon once being pulled by an RV going up I-5 ....

I'm going to do it & wondered if there was anything special to be aware of.

Right now I'm looking at Roadmaster Classic Base Plate Kit 1208-1 & the RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar RM-520, for the braking I'm watching craigslist for a used Brake Buddy or Roadmaster unit. The Roadmaster base palate was the only one I could find for a "Vanagon".

Comments are welcome!
