My computers have reminded me that this is a Friday! Consequently I have decided to share with any of you interested some new material about the successful landing of Curiosity on the Planet Mars. First I would like to sincerely thank all of you who sent me notes of encouragement and the celebration of the engineering success of this remarkable adventure. I was deeply touched by the level of support and interest by members of the list. There are two interesting videos that have been prepared about the landing event. The first was actually put together by JPL and can be found on the official NASA website. The link is:

The second is a YouTube video that is going viral. It was prepared by a group of individuals with no connection with or funding from JPL or NASA. This should become evident as you watch the clip. However there are scenes from our control room with several of these students (I assume) in the foreground. Either very good Photoshop work, or I'm unaware of the connection. The link is:

I hope these help convey some of the sense of excitement that permeates the lab and my colleagues!
