I guess I am an old timer or something cause I started using Mobil 1 Synthetic in my VWs and other vehicles back in the mid 70s. Vanagons were all built after that. I have had very good experiences with Mobil 1. Back then we were mostly concerned with doing what we could to get a few more MPG and the synthetic helped with that. Mark
