I use Mobil 1 10/30 in my van. I buy it when the local Autozone runs an oil change special that has the 5.1quart, a filter, plastic drain pan, funnel, and a tub of hand cleaner for 28.00. It's cheaper than buying the oil by itself!?! Only problem is I have about 10 funnels, crappy drains pans, and tubs of hand cleaner cluttering up a shelf in my garage.

VW, like all manufacturers up until very recently, made no difference in change intervals or warranty validity between "synthetic" and regular oil. In fact, Toyota only got on the "synthetic" bandwagon when they started branding the stuff under their own label and now they require it to keep the warranty valid for some vehicles. Go figure. > > mcneely
