This would tend to indicate a problem on the suction side of the pump. Where does Mellow Yellow keep its fuel filter(s)? Normal candidates are small square one before and/or very large cylindrical one after. If the one before gets clogged it will cause cavitation, likewise if the tank inlet is obstructed.
