Actually, I would say that vanagons and waterboxer engines do pretty well considering the abuse many of them get.

re Chris ... I installed one of his engines. I exchange a few lengthy and detailed emails with him .. he's articulate and highly competent. I have no problem at all with anything he says due to the results and workmanship on his engine, and how he interacted with me - all were rock solid. Heck ...I rarely give a high grade . I find 'weak' and 'not really quite all the way there ' stuff from many suppliers .....quite commonly actually. What I'd call about 90 % ... not 100 or 110 %. Chris is 110 % as far as I know. He is one of the very few shops/vendors/ individuals I give a high grade to. He might be the only one even ! lol. I see so many things that are not done well, not designed perfectly and on and on. I can not think of one thing to criticize or complain about with Cris. so if he says they're good for X .. I believe it.
