Wow, I have no idea what is going on here. Pictures to send? Propane tank
near the slider? Welded bolts? Short track/long track? Are you sure it's a
vanagon? : )

This all seems totally alien to my experience installing later model track
into an 83. I have pictures of my install, BTW.
