Not at all hard to find here (Mobil I) but hard to pay for. Over $8 a quart. I use Castrol 20W50 with great results. VW, like all manufacturers up until very recently, made no difference in change intervals or warranty validity between "synthetic" and regular oil. In fact, Toyota only got on the "synthetic" bandwagon when they started branding the stuff under their own label and now they require it to keep the warranty valid for some vehicles. Go figure.
