Speaking of 89s, one of the most memorable scenic moments of my life came as I was heading east from Glacier National Park. The road was winding through valleys as I left the park area and it suddenly spat me out onto the Great Plains with no warning. I recall seeing mountains still rising up to my right and left and nothing but huge expanse of plain ahead. Epic transition and something of a shock when you don't expect it.
