Stuart, I don't disagree with creating a dedicated folder, but a reply in digest mode is actually quite easy. Go the the archives http://gerry.vanagon.com/archives/vanagon.html and click on the current week at the top of the page, go to the desired thread, and reply right there. As a bonus, the entire thread is indexed right there in front of you and you may often see that numerous other list members have already replied, perhaps making another reply unnecessary; time saved. By checking the current status of a given thread in the archives before posting, much redundancy could be avoided. If you do choose to continue with a reply, an added benefit is that you can reply to any of the posts in the thread, not just the original post, and you can easily copy and trim whatever portion of the post you wish to include in your reply, as I did above. This feature is not exclusive to the archive page, but it's convenient to have the entire index of the thread at your disposal when writing a reply. |
