Europeans are used to living in cramped quarters and close together. Civility is essential for survival, and that applies to camping too! In other ways, too. I have to say that I have never seen quieter campgrounds than in England and Germany. Once nighttime rolls around people are generally politely quiet, even if still sitting around the fire. I have been at large music festivals in the UK and the US, and the difference is tremendous. In the US you have the obligatory drunks yelling their heads off at 3 am just to hear their own drunken voices (Murphy's Law dictating that the loudest one will always camp next to your Westy). In the UK you actually get a good night's sleep. Similarly, earlier this summer my wife spent almost two weeks camping all around Germany after visiting some of my suppliers, and without exception, once 9 pm or so rolled around you could hear a pin drop in the campgrounds. I kid you not, even the dogs stopped barking! - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc. www.busdepot.com (215) 234-VWVW _____________________________________________ Toll-Free for Orders by PART # : 1-866-BUS-DEPOT |
