Subject: shrunken kitchen floor
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

We've owned an 87 Westfalia for just over a year now, loving every minute of it - though we have recently dubbed it 'the six million dollar van'...

We've been slowly fixing the many things that need fixing, with much assistance from this list. One thing I can't figure out or find a solution to is this:

the p.o stored the van in a valley that gets extremely hot in the summer -- as a result, a lot of the interior moldings have shrunk- some by several inches. I've managed to heat gun most of these back to their original length, but now there's the rubber floor in the kitchen area to contend with - it has pulled away from the floor and away from one edge by a few inches. I'd like to stretch it back and glue it back down.

So, any thoughts on how to stretch it back? Also, I was hoping to do this in situ, but if necessary, I'd pull it up (the glue is kinda loose anyway, and rubber is bubbling in a few spots) - do I need to pull the cabinet/rear seat, since it extends beneath these?

Thanks in advance,

paul
