Not stupid.  Finger tight with wheel off ground.  Lower wheel.  First
pass, tighten lightly.  Second pass, tighten moderately and
evenly.  Third pass, tighten to correct torque.  Star pattern is easy
with a five-lug wheel: think of a five-pointed star, pick a direction
(say clockwise); and the next one to tighten is always the second
clockwise from the one you just did.
