If anything is loose it will make more of a clunk rather than a thud sound, when I was going thru my front suspension to find some clunking issue's I found the oval tube in the passenger side upper control arm mount broke loose causing camber slop and a big clunk even at 1st gear low speed, I had my neighbors machine shop weld it back into place and weld the drivers side to prevent it from happening as well. I found my lower balljoints were loose too,I bit the bullet and rebuilt the entire front suspension, moog brand upper and lower balljoints, inner and outer tie rod ends, moog costs more but all the boxes said made in germany or USA. I also went wit the FULL powerflex urathane bushing set. That made a huge difference compared to what I had before. The heavier load rated tires required by our heavy beasts don't help,I could only find load range D tires in my area, load range C would ride the rough better. I only have oem boge shocks and they are not that bad,I would like more of a cushy shock but spent $1k which tapped out my funds for a while.

Hi Ralph. I did the control arm bushings about a year ago. I think the rest are good. Is there a way to check them other than the wheel 'wiggle/twist' test? Would bad balljoints/rod ends cause a rough ride?
