I have moon caps. At one time I thought they were factory on the vehicle, back when I was new to the Vanagon. But they are certainly a far cry better looking than the piece of crap plastic ones -- I have those, too, having gotten both from the seller.

I have heard the hub cap (now called "wheel cover" by more modern types) described as a safety feature, with the claim that if a nut came loose inside, it would be heard rattling around. Well, maybe that is a consideration ............. . My tinnitus and the road noise would obviate that.
