Nah, the trick is the tire mounting stud found standard in Mercedes and BMW (when they had spare tires) toolkits. VWs, being cheap cars, simply don't come with them. You may be surprised, then, to learn that bolts are used on all four wheels on all VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche.

And before you get all excited about the $14 dollar version of this tool on eBay, just stop in to your Mercedes dealer where the same thing is $4. You'll have to be able there to answer the question 12mm or 14mm and I think VWs are 12mm.

You should learn to trust Germans ... if there's a problem, they've found a solution.
