Hard to believe anything is $4 at the Mercedes dealer. My brother got a quote of 16K to replace the knocking motor in his S430. Used shortblock on Ebay is $500.

Anyway, I didn't pay anything except the power needed to operate the angle grinder that cut the head off the appropriate size bolt in my bucket of spares.

"And before you get all excited about the $14 dollar version of this tool on eBay, just stop in to your Mercedes dealer where the same thing is $4.You'll have to be able there to answer the question 12mm or 14mm and I think VWs are 12mm."

Can anyone confirm this? I don't have any lug bolts off right now but I think they are a bit beefier than 12mm.
