cheap cup holders are pretty good, available from online vendors who offer Vanagon parts, from RV shops, from FLAPS. The kind that fold flat are pretty good. They can be mounted on the dash in Vanagons, wherever you think is convenient. Use screws. I have a between the seats console that I mounted there with screws through the floor. It has cup holders, is handy for storage and coffee or tea drinking, but interferes with stepping through and with rotating the seats. The latter cannot be done with it there.
