Advice needed please!

So I put the new seals on the poptop (the one that goes around and the one over the top) and I'm wondering what the best way is to connect them.  I was hoping one would overlap the other but that doesn't seem to be the case.  

I guess my question is which one runs the length of the top, and which one butts into it?  Not sure how to finish this without it looking like a hack job.  This would be nicer if it was one finished unit.
