the older style doors are a bear to close quietly, I agree. You can go some way in making them a bit better by ensuring the lower roller assembly is not rubbing its "heel" on the lower track. Shimming with washers between the cast elbow and the bracket on the door will tilt the elbow a bit and resolve that problem.
