Deciding on which engine conversion involves more factors than people may realize. A few some may not consider: - who will maintain the engine? If you, which engine do you wish to learn about or already know something about? - are you willing to be "hands on" to any degree? - what engine swaps does your shop have experience with? A botched job or one that requires lots of return visits to shop can really sour the experience and/or convince a person that "such and such" swap is "bad". - what used engines are most commonly available in your area? Shipping adds to swap cost. Seeing a running donor is really useful; a shipped engine could be bad. - what fuel will you run? (AFAIK, the VW 1.8T uses premium fuel only) - what are your driving needs? Neil.
