as I have mentioned a few times, take the mirror apart at the base, pull out a hemisphere shaped washer .. apply Permatex Hi Tack gasket sealer to both sides of it. Reassemble.. gives great traction on that pivot part, and works nicely.

I could not fix cars without that product. That's how good it is.
