good suggestions.. and the very LAST place I would let touch any car or van of mine is an auto shop class. I have seen some incredibly bogus work come out of a place like that.

How likely is it that the instructor is vanagon savvy ? how likely is it the instructor makes sure that everything done is done right ? I'd be hyper careful with that.. good chance for a rewarding project for everyone involved , sure.........just be super careful. I would tell them about 20 times that everything has to be done to their absolute humanly best intentions and skills.. and don't even begin to think for a second that is automatically in their minds. It's a distinction that may be in our minds ... and not at all very commonly in the minds of people who fix or build things for others. BTDT ...got a thousand examples.
