Richard,

"Ask your tire shop. You do have a tire shop that you trust and takes care of your tire and alignment needs, don't you?"

No, no I don't. And who here finds their local shops to be infallible sources of information?

I've bought one (1) set of tires for this van since I bought it, those in 2008, a tire not stocked here so I had then shipped to Discount Tires for mounting. That's not enough history with that one shop to evaluate their expertise.

For aligning, I use the good shop here in town, Alignment Techniques (Mike Wing); he uses a Hunter HawkEye alignment system and watching him work on the van it's very clear that he knows what he's doing and is very very conscientious. He told me yesterday that tires should be rotated every 6,000 - 8,000 miles.

That's his, very expert, opinion, but I wanted to also run the question past the crowd here, because every type of vehicle has its own quirks.

My tires have about 10,000 miles on them so they are past their rotate-date.
