Bentley page 97.109 has a note telling where it is. That it is only mentioned in that one spot is an omission, small as it may be.

So yes, the Syncro sub-harness grounds back on the left side of the engine compartment along with other brown ground wires. The Syncro sub-harness also has the wires for the 3 locker switches, in addition to the fuel gauge sender wires.
