If you are not doing it yourself, your most important choice will be the shop that does it. Try to find one close with experience in a particular conversion and go with that. It's been my experience with conversions you need to be your own mechanic unless you have a shop nearby with experience.

Stuart '85 Westy, fortunate to be in Seattle with shops that do Subaru and Zetec (Tec Shop, Small Car Performance, Northwesty)

Overall what is the choice conversion out there and why? I have a 89 Westy, Manual, 2WD. And I am considering.

I know of the VW TDI Subaru, Multiple motors Ford ZTEC

I will be asking the shop to do the conversion itself.
